This place has the odd distinction of offering both my favorite and least favorite sandwiches. Let's get the bad out of the way first. A few weeks ago, my coworkers and I ordered takeout from Williamson's and I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wrap. When my coworker returned with the food, my wrap was missing not only the tomatoes, but the buffalo sauce, leaving me with lettuce, a few pieces of cheese and oddly breaded chicken fingers (I think they were panko bread crumbs). I called and complained, and they agreed to give me a replacement sandwich. I had that sandwich today and while it did have the buffalo sauce, it was the oddest buffalo sauce I've ever had. It was strangely sweet and barely spicy. I'm not sure if it was an improvement over the sauceless wrap, honestly. Just plain weird, and not worth $9. Now on to the good stuff - their Reuben sandwich is the food of the gods. The meat is tender, the sauce is rich and the cheese is ooey-gooey. It's served on sourdough bread, which seals the deal for me. (I don't care for rye bread, yet I love Reubens. Go figure.) My only other quibble is that the prices are a bit higher than they need to be, but they do usually include a healthy serving of french fries as well as soup. The gumbo is delicious!

Williamson's is a good local find. Food is good quality and service is typically good too. And quite often entertaining, as my wife and I usually eat in the bar area where there are TV's and friendly waiters/waitresses. They run specials, so if you know when they are you can capture some pretty nice deals. Their selection of drinks is decent too.

We were sooooo surprised at the fabulous food and service at this restaurant. We thought we were in McDonald's country, at BEST. I cannot tell you how pleased we were to have a good meal served by terrific wait staff.

Ive never had a bad meal here, in fact their salads in particular ate the best ive had anywhere. You can get a fantastic generously sized, perfectly cooked piece of salmon added to your salad for a couple bucks and all their salads are fantastic. I think their prices are great for the quality and quantity of food served. Staff is very helpful, drinks are good, really like this place. Try their weeknight specials!! $5 burgers and $10 steaks are a great deal!

I gave it the extra star for the great atmosphere. I really enjoyed the decor', as it was quirky and great wood trim throughout the place. Such a comfortable place to eat. I enjoyed the potato skins. The meal was good but barely above average. It was definitely a great place to go instead of going to Cracker Barrel when driving through the city. The service was wonderful. I would go back. The fountain in the bathroom was neat and the little metal art work near the door of the bathroom was really cool and caught my attention.

GET THE CARROT CAKE! It is amaaaazing! Even if you are stuffed, get the carrot cake to-go! They give you a huge slice so it will last you a day or two. Or you could share, but trust you will not want to! I also love their bread with the honey butter! They have GREAT service as I always come with a very large group. Never a long wait and our waitresses are always pleasant! Their entree's that I have tried are just "okay" (fried shrimp, jambalaya pasta, NY strip steak sandwich) But I will ALWAYS stop in for that carrot cake!

After a long winter working on house rehab, my husband and I planned a date night. There were a few hiccups and cancellations-but we were finally able to catch a movie and go out to a nice dinner. I had my dinner planned for months...Surf and Turf. Friday night, of course it's a little busy but we were seated immediately. I ordered a Dirty Martini. We weren't offered appetizers-but I get it...it's busy-no biggie. I ordered the meal I had been planning for months-mouth watering lobster tail, rare-blue cheese crusted steak with fries, steamed veggies and salad. My husband ordered the 18oz NY strip medium rare with fries. Food came and looked beautiful, absolutely calendar worthy. Where's the big butt? my husband's steak was under-cooked and so chewy he would chew it to get the flavor-but was unable to swallow. My steak was blue cheese crusted AFTER it was covered in a very salty thick brown gravy. Yep...I said brown gravy-like what is put on mashed potatoes-except this was NOT homemade yummy gravy-this was a salty, thick, coagulated pool of brown gel. The lobster tail was so over-cooked it was like lobster-jerky. I'm certain the mixed vegetables were microwaved from a frozen "steamable bag" because some of my cauliflower was frozen. I wanted to cry. We were neglected by our server, Colleen...because the staff was over worked-no fault of hers-she is one person. She was so apologetic I felt terrible for her-because she was apologizing for everyone else's mistake and the food. Tonight's romantic dinner was one disappointment after another-then we were served with the check...$53.00 for "market price" Surf and Turf for a grand total of $104.00 for two entrees and one martini (the martini wasn't bad-but the bartender left ice in it). I wanted a romantic dinner to remember, instead I got one I can't forget.

I really want to love this place... I have been here a couple of times now. It is a favorite place for the boy's family and they frequent it. I got the same thing twice... That was my mistake! I thought it would be better! I think I have come to the determination that it's more of a place of the older generation or it's something out of the 60s or even 50s (though it's a relatively young place). The dishes are aged and need to be updated or revived or something... Here's what I had both times I've been and what the boy had on our last visit: 14 oz Prime Rib Dinner with baked potato and steamed veggies... I was in the mood for a steak! I think I should have gone for the filet because the prime rib just wasn't trimmed enough. It tasted good but I really had to work for my dinner with all of the gristle and cartilage. The steamed veggies were really over cooked. They didn't have any seasoning on them, so they were pretty bland. Parmesan Chicken Focaccia with french fries... This butterflied double breasted chicken was so big that it created an open faced sammich vs. something on a bun. It took up the whole plate! It was at least 8" in diameter if not bigger! The boy loved it and barely ate half of his dinner! We were eating leftover, for sure! I'm giving 3 stars for the boys love of his food and the service from our waitress. I am disappointed in the quality of my prime rib and veggies though (on two occasions). I know I'll be back here again with his family and I hope it will improve!

Good Food, Good Service & nice atmosphere. I had the Philly steak, fries and chicken gumbo soup. The soup was good. I really liked the fries, they were good and crispy. The Philly steak sandwich was really large and I could not finish it. Sandwich was really good, not a traditional Philly more of a steak sandwich with the same toppings you would get on a Philly. Sandwich also came with an Au Jus. Our server informed us that it was only his second night but I think he did a good job. I would be very happy to have him wait on us anytime and appreciate him letting us know he was new.

This is a little gem that is not well-known! They have great food and great service. I ordered the fajitas, and my hubby ordered the barbecue combo. Fajita veggies were a bit more well done than I'd like and the BBQ chix was a tad bit overdone so minus one star but really overall a good place! Our son got the spaghetti with the seafood. It was really good. We all had lunch the next day with leftovers! They have weekly specials and really nice sized portions. They come out with this lovely bread that is to die for!!!

My husband ordered the 14 ounce ribeye 24.99 med rare, came out med well. sent it back checked the new one seemed ok but once he cut fully into it it was barely pink. Very charred, grill must have been to hot. After two steaks he wasn't up for trying another so ended up with salad and mashed potatoes, he asked the server to show it to the manager and she/he took it off the ticket didn't come to the table. He didn't get a meal of course he isn't going to pay for it! No offer of a free dessert or anything, which we didn't want, just wanted them to care. My prime rib was average, salad out of the bag. Comfortable, nice decor especially in entry they should put that much detail in food. sandwiches looked good.

My new favorite restaurant. The food was great and the service was amazing! (Love the bread) our server, Madeline was the best she was so attentive and catered to me and my friends picky demands. Over all great place!

Time to update: This isn't Ruth's Chris, or Wildfire, so extinguish those expectations. It is what it is what is it, and does a good job at it. Full bar, lots of parking, and popular daily specials keep this place packed. They also are one of the few restaurants open past 9PM in the area, and have a late night menu, too. I've NEVER had bad service here, and the last several times we've been lucky enough to have Ashley (I think that's her name) as a server. What a find! Fast as lighting, very friendly, and you can see her thinking 2 steps ahead all the time. She even takes the time to thank the busboys/ladies. The food is mostly: pretty good. Great french fries. Chicken parm foccacia is huge and tasty. Save room though, or be prepared to take dessert to go because they have the most amazing carrot cake you'll ever have in your life. No lie. One slice feeds 4, but you'll shank anyone who tries to horn in on yours.

I'm only giving two stars because the food was not good but atmosphere is nice. The server was very friendly and offered appetizers, drinks, even dessert which is nice. When we ordered I specifically mentioned I had a pepper allergy so my chicken was to be seasoning free. I saw her write it yet my food comes out and the chickens ok but the sauce on it has tons of pepper. I have a severe allergy and could have needed an ER visit on top of being pregnant so that was a huge mistake on the chefs part. She removed the dish yet never sent a manager. Instead she said "we took it off the bill and the chef should have known the sauce had pepper." At that point I didn't trust another item considering the chef sent out a plate that could have harmed me. I will not return because of this. The bread with honey butter was amazing but again not worth my life or my babies. Oh yes and my dads meal had brown broccoli on it. Not very appetizing at all.

Hey this is a pretty nice place! I was not expecting much when I went with my in laws for $5 burger night - how good could that be? Well, I was pleasantly surprised - I really enjoyed my meal - the burger was great and damn! That is cheaper than McDonald's! Anyway - this is a large, busy, fairly loud place with a good sports bar area in front. They have consistently had good food (try the soups). I have no complaints whatsoever!

..i think her name is Matilda -the sweetest waitress ever!! I've been here a few times and i always get the French Onion Soup and a side caesar salad which is enough food for me especially with the delicious bread they give you oh and i get hot tea which is a lipton black tea bag and honey . I love martini mondays (5$ martinis) !!caramel apple martini is sooo good.

We went there on Fried fish Friday, my suggestion Do Not order off the Fried Fish Flyer, my husband ordered fried shrimp, he said it taste like frozen ( Gortons ) I ordered fried orange roughy, it was a huge piece, obviously frozen as well, the fish was more mushy than flakey. The mixed veggies were mushy too. It was like cooking frozen food. Not impressed at all.

Always had a good meal here when we visit Williamson. Their soups are so good that I never order a salad with meal My spouse likes the chicken picatta while I usually order one of their daily specials. Tried the chicken schnitzel smothered with spinach, cheese, and ham. Both meals were amble and great tasting. Another good choice is the chicken Marsala. Williamson has a terrific New York steak sandwich. This is a good family restaurant.

Ok..so my husband chose this place for his birthday. . Dennis was our server. He was great telling us about the specials & today's soup, but when I asked him if the salad had iceberg lettuce, he said No. WRONG!! plus, I requested the dressing be on the side..it was drowning in it..so I sent it back & I traded it in for the steak & noodle soup.Very good. We both ordered the filet mignon Med. Rare...perfectly done!!

Nice atmosphere, but the surf and turf was not worth 55$! Over priced. Veggies were from a bag and baked potato was burnt. Food did not seem fresh cooked. Won't be going back for food...

I feel like I'm being generous by giving this place two stars. They have the look and prices of a decent/nice suburban restaurant, but the food is greasy spoon diner quality. I ordered the prime rib, and it was pretty bad. Cooked medium, bites alternated between being rubbery and mealy. The stuffed mushrooms weren't cooked enough. The garlic mashed potatoes? I'm not sure what was going on with them, but they tasted pretty awful. The steamed vegetables were way undercooked and came to the table barely room temperature. I'm really bummed out by this experience. It was our first visit there. We went for my husband's birthday (we, sadly, changed our original plan of Paisano's to try this place), and it made for an uncomfortable time. Everyone eating subpar food that we were paying far too much for, pretending that it was enjoyable and tasty, because we were celebrating a family birthday together. Two thumbs down. Total disappointment.

Been here 3 times hoping to give the benefit of the doubt. 3 different meals and 3 different servers. Always same results. Service is average to poor at best. Very slow, I'll give them that they are consistent. Food is like a fancy Dennys. Precooked average food. My wife had chicken fingers today. How do you mess up chicken fingers? We won't be going back. We really did try but after 3 times we'll be trying other restaurants.

Sadly this is the nicest place in New Lenox to eat. They have some great specials but I keep getting this one waitress who is terrible at her job. Takes forever, walks past you, pretty much ignores you. Last time I went before this time I'm pretty sure my burger was still mooing. Good French onion soup though.

Decent enough food, service too. But seriously, come hungry!!! Wife and I shared a pasta dish and had enough leftovers for at least 3-4 meals, NOT an exaggeration at all.

Very crowded for good reason. Food was not super mind blowingly incredible, but it was very good and an incredible value overall. Kevin is an amazing bartender, the best I have seen in a long time! If I lived in this area, this would be my go to spot!

This is a great local spot. I was there recently on a Saturday afternoon with my mom for lunch. The fact that the location is very close to the highway is a great advantage, I think. We were traveling between Channahon and Orland Park, and this was a perfect place to stop for a bite. Both my mom and I are following the Whole30 diet, which means no dairy, grains, sugars, or legumes. Naturally, it is a lot easier to eat at home while following this plan. However, we were both able to find great items on the Williamson's menu that could be altered slightly to make them conform to our dietary needs. And everything tasted great. The waitress was extremely helpful in answering our questions about ingredients in different menu items. There didn't seem to be any problems with amending and personalizing items for us. For us to visit on a regular basis, Williamson's is a bit too far from Channahon. But, if you are in the neighborhood, or on a roadtrip down I-55, take the time to stop.

Food is ok. Your average family restaurant. The half price night's are a sign of desperation and getting old with the crowds. The have so many tables in the main dining area you can't move

When I order a $25 dollar steak, I'm significantly surprised when the garlic mashed potatoes sidedish comes from a powdered mix. This place is adequate.

  • Michele F.

Very nice looking restaurant with very polite wait staff. Options besides potatoes were offered as side dishes. However, the vegetables were so cold no butter would melt. Server didn't seem to notice they weren't being eaten and butter still sat on them. Sandwiches and wraps were average. Beef on French dip sandwich could have been trimmed better to reduce fat.

This is probably the best restaurant in New Lenox for price versus food. I must say the pork chops are the best I've ever had, the price is decent (about 16 bucks for 2 of them) and you get bread, soup or salad, and they're huge, too. My only downfall to this place is the flaming cheese. You're just sitting there enjoying your meal, great smells then all of a sudden a waiter/waitress sets a plate of cheese on fire next you and now the whole place stinks. Definitely not something that should be done right next to someone. I do think that if you have to smell something as bad as this, a portion of your check should taken off. Its that bad.

Fried XANDOS!!!!! Ok, I should probably start with the dinner and then go to dessert, but I just can't! Fried Xandos is deep fried cheesecake, served with ice cream and chocolate sauce. I shouldn't but just typing about it makes me want to go get some tonight! It really doesn't matter what I get for dinner, I like it. I've eaten fried chicken (not popeyes seasoned but better than white fence farm). I've eaten fajitas, fish, lobster/steak dinner. All the food is good and the service has always been excellent. Now no matter what dinner I'm in the mood for, I always order fried xandos for dessert. In fact, if I'm doing some emotional eating, I'll order fried xandos and skip dinner! The deep fried batter is softer than deep fried chicken batter, but still crunchy (and no it doesn't taste like they fry the chicken and cheesecake in the same batter). The cheesecake inside is so creamy! I don't think it's homemade cheesecake, but I don't care...it's still good! The ice cream is a good compliment because it is cold with the hot of the deep fried cheesecake. Sidebar* I followed a whole foods, gluten free diet for a few months and I was able to order a delicious baked fish, grilled veggies and soup lunch. I'm not gluten sensitive, so I can't say that there isn't cross contamination. No fried xandos that time, but I have certainly made up for it!

It's definately nice to have this restaurant in New Lenox/Joliet. Most of the food in Joliet is awful! Well, really the city is too, but this is a crystal in the rough. I went here in December and then in early June 2012. I had the prime rib in December, and it was pretty good. In June, I ordered the Chicken Marsala w/ mashed potatoes as main course, baked french onion soup as a side, and spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer. All are pretty good. The prices aren't too bad either. They prices are about the same as an Applebees. I like it. The place is clean. The staff was respectful and didn't bother my fiancee or me either.

Don't get it twisted, this is not the place to go on a first date.... Maybe not even a second date. But if you're looking for good food at a decent price, this is your spot. It's the kind of place my grandfather would like, old school ambiance, generous cocktails and excellent service. I had a $23 surf & turf special which was good, not the best I've had, although that isn't exactly what I was expecting for $23. It looked like they had a variety of good specials throughout the course of the week. It's local, I'll definitely be back.

In the suburbs your choices are usually some hot dog place, McDonald's and Subway. If you're in the New Lenox area you can add this place to the list, but make sure you put it above McDonald's and below Subway. Since this is a Greek place, I decided to get lamb, something the Greeks are known for. I got lamb chops, medium rare. They were SO full of fat, gristle, etc, that most of what I got was left on the plate. I've had lamb chops before, a lot, so I know they can be fatty, but this was on a whole new level! I've had better shoulder lamb chops, and these were loin! Of course, they might have been better if they had been cooked to medium rare, and not medium well, but they still would've been 60% inedible. I would have sent them back had I not been celebrating with my in-laws. What earned them 2 stars instead of one was the marinade the chops were in, it was delicious! Too bad the lamb itself was such poor quality, it could've been a really great dish. You should start with a good meat and go from there, not start with bad meat and try to make it acceptable. The French Onion soup is well below par, with the onions not being softened properly, still fairly crunchy, and there's not very many of them, with a small piece of french bread, and not enough cheese to completely cover the bowl, with an oily beef broth. I hope you like oily broth, because that's almost all there is to their "French Onion Soup." I was going to order the Saganiki appetizer, until i saw that it was "a blend of three cheeses" and the waitress couldn't tell me which three cheeses they were. A good Greek place, which at these prices this place should've been, will use imported Kefalograviera. We had 2 young kids, which they were fine with, and we ordered a kid's meal for one and the other was younger and just ate from their mother's plate. The kids meal supposedly came with a scoop of ice cream, but we never received it. The mixed drinks were strong, and I'm told quite good. The whisky selection was poor by my standards, but if you want Jack Daniel's or Dewar's you might find it acceptable. The waitress was a little slow, but did a good job. When you have a huge table and the waitress has another section to take care of, give them a break. They can't do everything at once. She got our order correct, the food was delivered to the correct person while it was still hot, and she stopped by during the meal to make sure everything was ok. For 9 adults, 8 of them having a drink or a beer, and one kid's meal, the total was about $370. For those prices we could've gone to either a real steakhouse, or a real Greek restaurant, and not the demented child of the two.

Mothers Day disaster.. Reservations? Come on!... I've been this place numerous time for a year. I can come there ANY OTHER TIME and get in with Minimal waiting. So today I need a Reservation or I have to wait over an Hour. then some snotty waitress saids we can Only wait in the Bar... Well Screw that... We left... Take the snotty attitude and your loss of a regular.

I'm not entirely sure what the other reviewers are talking about when they call this place a "Greek" restaurant. They must not have been to very many Greek restaurants. For God's sake, the name is "Williamson's." That's not a greek last name. Williamson's is definitely a steak and chop place that just happens to serve Greek chicken and shish kabobs, two foods that aren't very exotic. Anyway, with that being said, this place used to be a lot better. Step up your game Williamson's.

Since joining yelp, I haven't written too many reviews. But at dinner last night, I told the group of friends I was with that my meal was SO GOOD that I was inspired to write a review for Williamson's. I love going out to dinner and my first choice is usually a little more upscale restaurant (like Francesca's, Dan McGee's, etc.), but last night was Ladies Night Out with the group from my church. There was 10 of us, and while we were told they couldn't take a reservation or seat us until our entire party got there, they did seat us very quickly at a nice big out of the stream of traffic table. Our server (a young male) was funny & quirky and being a young man approaching a table full of women said "Ladies, you will now focus all your attention on me!" Cute. The place was PACKED being that Mondays are $10 Steak Night. Your choice of steak (rib eye, strip, prime rib, etc.) which comes with fresh bread, soup or salad, choice of potato and vegetable...all for $10. The steaks came with a big onion ring and mushrooms as well at no extra charge. Most of the ladies at my table got a steak and loved them. Most of them also got the Chicken Pot Pie soup and raved about it. I try to eat healthy so ordered some different choices. I started with the "Very Bean" soup which was also a delicious soup choice. More of a broth than a cream base, and loaded with 3 different kinds of beans, carrots, a nice hint of spice. For my entree I ordered the Chicken Shish-ka-Bob - and ate EVERY LAST BITE. It came with nicely seasoned green beans and served on a bed of Greek rice. 2 big skewers loaded with juicy chicken, green & yellow (a nice surprise) peppers, onions and tomatoes. And the side garnish was great too...not just a lettuce leaf, but lettuce with with fresh sliced tomato, 2 Greek olives, 2 pepperocini peppers and a nice size piece of Feta cheese. I ate it ALL! Delicious!!

I eat out at a lot of restaurants, and when I am in the mood for a steak sandwich I go to Williamson's. By far the best strip steak sandwich I have ever had. Thick juicy and tender. Great soup and delicious complementary bread that is served warm.

Always have really good food at Williamson's. It is an upscale family restaurant with good food. Period. The atmosphere is classier than 99% of family restaurants and the service has always been good. To qualify my perspective I am a white collar New Lenox resident with a healthy history of restaurant experience. I'm not a culinary snob and I'm not trying to sound like a magazine food critic like some of the people on this forum. (Yes there is a KMart parking lot that butts up next to Williamson's - so what people? Get over yourselves!) Williamson's is a relaxed restaurant with great food that you can actually enjoy at a reasonable price. Definitely worth a try.

Just finished the cream of chicken lemon drop soup and it was very tasty. The server Kevin in the bar is very friendly and courteous. He has a fabulous memory and is nice and quick, very cognisant of your time for a lunch. The tuna is real tuna and I was expecting bumblebee. Whoa, stepping up in the world are we?! My friend had a wrap and said "a wraps a wrap." Portions are big, sandwiches include soup and fries for about $7. Overall, it was good service and good food. I will definitely order take out from here sometime soon!
